A 52-year-old Key Largo, Florida man was arrested Sunday after making an attempt to take a Sheriff’s Workplace Patrol Sergeant’s weapon, briefly stealing his patrol car, stealing one other automobile, and crashing the second automobile on U.S. 1. There have been no life-threatening accidents reported.

Armando Lopez was charged with false imprisonment, home violence by strangulation, tried homicide, resisting arrest, grand theft auto, fleeing and eluding, impersonating a legislation enforcement officer, housebreaking of an emergency car and resident’s car, carjacking, leaving the scene of a crash, possession of a firearm/ammunition by a felon, and driving with a suspended driver’s license.

The Sheriff’s Workplace responded to a home incident at a residence on Palm Drive at roughly 4:25 p.m. Lopez was beating an grownup feminine there. Lopez grabbed a responding Sergeant’s service weapon in its holster and unsuccessfully tried to take away it whereas punching the Sergeant. Lopez fled from the residence. He was shocked with a Taser, however the Taser didn’t incapacitate him. Lopez then stole a Sheriff’s Workplace patrol car and drove away from the scene.

Lopez then stopped a Kia SUV whereas within the patrol automobile. He pressured the feminine driver out of the Kia, jumped inside and drove north on U.S. 1. Lopez rear-ended one other car close to Mile Marker 104, inflicting the Kia to flip.

Lopez was taken to Mariners Hospital in Tavernier after which to jail.
