Earlier than Jimmy Buffett blew out his first flip-flop, the Seaside Boys have been “loadin’ up our Woody with our boards inside” to go online within the California sunshine.
The unique seashore music band, which fashioned in Hawthorne, California in 1961, returned on Feb. 28 to Key West, the place crowds packed the Espresso Butler Amphitheater to listen to — and sing together with — timeless classics like “California Women,” Surfin’ Safari,” “Kokomo,” “Surfin’ USA,” “Good Vibrations” and “Sloop John B.”
The Seaside Boys, on the town as a part of their Limitless Summer season Gold tour, initially included the three teenaged Wilson brothers, Brian, Carl and Dennis; their cousin Mike Love; and faculty pal Al Jardine.
The present lineup nonetheless consists of Love, together with longtime performer Bruce Johnson, musical director Brian Eichenberger, and Christian Love, Tim Bonhomme, Jon Bolton, Keith Hubacher, Randy Leago and John Wedemeyer.
