Lacking hiker discovered protected after surviving weeks in snowy California mountains

LOS ANGELES (AP) — When the Vermilion Valley Resort in California’s japanese Sierra shut down for the winter, the workers left cabin doorways unlocked simply in case a wayward hiker wanted shelter in the course of the frequent mountain snowstorms. That call could have saved the lifetime of Tiffany Slaton, the 27-year-old Georgia girl who was lacking for almost three weeks in distant wilderness.
